Professional Profile
Dr. Monalisa Char joined the Department of Materials Science and Technology, MAKAUT WB as Assistant Professor in 2019. Prior to joining MAKAUT WB, she worked under DST-GoI funded project (2015-2019) at Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search Kolkata (Institute under Department. Of Higher Education Govt. of WB).

Educational Qualification
Dr. Monalisa Char receives her PhD from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. Dr. Char carried out her research at NIT Durgapur in association with JBNSTS, Kolkata She completed her B. Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE); completed M. Tech in Operations Research (2013) from NIT Durgapur and 2nd M. Tech in Advanced Materials Science & Technology (2015) from NIT Durgapur.

Research Interest:

  • Advanced Materials Processing and Characterization. Different materials joining technologies and structure property correlation studies, Materials modelling and simulations using Origin, MATLAB, COMSOL
  • She got trained for working with several instruments for materials research like Metallurgical microscope (Reflectance & Transmittance & Polarizing mode) (Leica, DM 2700), Precision slow speed diamond cutting wheel (IsoMet Low Speed Saw Bühler, USA), Scanning Tunnelling microscope/Spectroscope (Nano Surf, Easy Scan) STM, Source measuring unit SMU 2450 (Keithley USA) with small work station for electrical property at nano scale and at elevated temperature, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (Lambda35, Perkin Elmer), Scanning Electron Microscope with EDS, and X-Ray Diffractometer

    • Expertise on designing academic skill development activities for middle and high school students and teachers on advanced science learning, and developing teaching module for Secondary /HS level, while working on DST-NCSTC Govt. of India funded project
    • Taking science classes of Senior Secondary school students and 1st year UG students in DST Inspire Science Camps and Workshops.
    • Completed project on “The Medium Voltage Vacuum Switch Gear” from AREVA T&D, Salt Lake, Kolkata from 2nd January 2010 to 12th January 2010.
    • Completed Vocational Training Course at “The Durgapur Projects Limited”, from 7th July 2010 to 6th August 2010.
